Sunday Round-up

As UN resolution 1701 calls for an immediate ceasefire of hostilities in the Lebanon, Israel launches a huge offensive, while George Bush does his bit by linking Hizbollah with the alleged terrorist plot in London. Robert Fisk does a better job writing about the roots of terrorism from his home in Beirut.while listening to bombs hitting buildings in the city. Heres another good one from him.

The Prime Minister of Lebanon Fouad Siniora writes in the Guardian for an end to Israeli agression and demands reparations. Meanwhile, his website puts Lebanese casualties so far at 1071 dead, 3628 injured and an incredible 973,334 displaced.

In Lebanon an attempt at civil resistance is stopped. George Galloway makes mincemeat of a sky news reporter. Scroll down this page for an interesting account of a Hizbollah fighter in Lebanon from the journalist Dahr Jamail. Jonathon Cook, a journalist living in Nazareth for the last several years, writes on how he finds himself with the Islamic Fascists. And counters the claim that Hizbollah fighters are hiding in civilian areas, thereby endangering civilian lives.

In other news, the Times writes on New Zealnd’s dark secret and here is a new John Pilger documentary on the Global Economy.
